We collect both automatic data and data provided by you when using the Site. Most automatic data collection occurs through the following technologies:

Data Provided by You
While using the Site, you may be prompted for information to log in and to use the Services provided to you. The data we collect and store may include the following:
Student Account Data: In order to use the web application to full capacity and enroll in a course, you will need to create a personal user account. The account data we collect includes your full name, your email address and a password you create.
If you connect to the Services using other third-party means, such as a social media account like Facebook or through Google, we ask for permission to access certain information. This information may include your account ID number, your login email address, gender, birthday and a list of friends. The third-party APIs make this information available to us and the information we receive all depends on your own privacy settings with the platform.
Instructor Account Data: In order to apply as an instructor, you will be required to complete an application form which may ask for your full name, email address, password, your website, and a brief bio you craft.
Student Course Data: If you choose to purchase and take a course, we collect your course information data which includes homework assignments you submit to satisfy course requirements.
Instructor Account Data: If you upload a course to sell on Lerna, we collect course-specific content such as your videos, course worksheets and any accompanying documentation related to the course.
Student Payment Data: The payment information you provide on the Service’s website is passed on to Stripe, a third-party payment processor. This information includes your name, card number, expiration date, CVC code and zip code.
Promotions: If you participate in any promotions we run, such as a contest or a sweepstakes, either through the Site or a third-party platform, we collect any data you provide as part of the participation terms. This data may include your name, email address, or date of birth.
We use the data that we collect generally to fulfill any operational duties to you. These include:
We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).
We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above. For example, we use Stripe to power our online store and process payments.

With Your Course Instructors
When you enroll in a specific course, we share your name and email address with your instructor in order to better assist them in evaluating your coursework and improve the course for you.
With Service Providers and Contractors
We share your data with third-party companies who perform services on the Site, including payment processing, data analysis, marketing, email and hosting. No third-party service provider may use your information without explicit direction in order to provide a requested service.
With Data and Analytics Services
We use third-party analytics tools like Google Analytics and Fullstory, which require certain Device Information and Account Information in addition to the usage data and system data outlined in Section 1. This data does not contain any sensitive information like your name or email address. Instead the data is presented behind a depersonalized ID.
With Social Media Providers
If, at some point, we decide to partner with an advertiser, we may share generalized information such as Device Information in order to show demographics and preferences of the userbase on the Site. Advertisers may utilize data collection methods to garner more information and better tailor personalized ads. You may opt out of advertiser data collections at any point (see Section 5) and will only receive untailored, generic ads.

You may choose not to provide certain data to us as long as you understand you may not be able to fully use the Services.

You will still receive transactional emails, such as order confirmations, important updates related to the Site and important information related to your orders and courses, such as homework completion notices and cash back notifications.
Your browser or device may allow you to control your cookies, information you share, or location.
As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States. Because Lerna LLC is headquartered in New York, we must transfer your data to the United States for processing.
When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.
If you continue using the Services after the effective date of any change, the use will be deemed as acceptance of any revisions or addendums to this policy.
